WHY CHOOSE BT MOTO
US and European model M1000RR’s have been restricted from the factory with the US models having worse restrictions than it's European counterpart. Stage 1 was developed to remove these restrictions and unlock your M1000RR’s full potential.
ONE TUNE FOR ALL
Racers at the circuit tracks or the drag strips will appreciate this tune. Thoroughly tested in both aspects by track racers, roll racers and just the casual rider wanting a more exciting bike to ride.
TRACK RACERS
Track racers can enjoy modified TC (traction control) settings for different tire sizes, smoother throttle transitions/tip-in, consistent and predicable power. All this comes together to make sure you start and finish a turn to the best of the bikes capability. Working directly with MotoAmerica racers really helped us dial in our products for the track.
DRAG / ROLL RACERS
Drag racers have the capability to restrict throttle in first and second gear to make managing wheelies easier. For more top-end than others, we adjust timing, fueling, FTCL (full-time closed loop), SOI (start of injection), EGT, the list goes on and on. Years of experience have helped us squeeze every bit of power from the bike, while keeping it reliable and consistent.
STREET RIDERS
For the casual rider, derestricting the bike is the biggest advantage to our tuning. This makes the bike a blast to ride and gives the rider smile educing power. The throttle is smooth when cruising and brutal when you need it to be. Hundreds of hours and miles go into our tuning and testing. We want to present the best product on the market while leading the pack in customer satisfaction.
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN STAGE STAGE 1?
- Derestricted Throttle
- Derestricted Exhaust Valve
- Better Fueling
- Heat Management
HOW DO WE ACCOMPLISH THIS WITH STAGE 1?
THROTTLE RESTRICTION - Giving you the ability to utilize 100% of the throttle is paramount in track situations where you need all the power you can get on demand. The factory file has "dead spots" that may cause the M1000RR (K66) to behave in an unpredictable manner when corner exiting. This also means any kind of straight line acceleration also suffers. We remove these factory restrictions to ensure a smooth and predicable throttle, all the way to redline.
EXHAUST VALVE - The exhaust valve is a double edged sword. It does good by making back pressure when needed but also hinders the 2021+ M1000RR from making the most power possible at mid to upper RPM ranges. The valve closed makes the bike a lot more quiet than if it were open. Even slip-on exhaust sounds almost the same as stock due to this valve closing so much. Opening this valve for racing use allows for some horsepower gains, as they are gear and RPM dependent. Just like the butterfly valves for the throttle. Lower gears will reduce sound and power by 3-5HP by opening the valve less then 100%, even in high RPM's. Our mapping still utilize the stock exhaust valve to give you maximum power but also opens it up when you need to make peak power gains and the sound you want.
FUELING - The 2021 BMW M1000RR fueling is rich for exhaust gas temperature purposes but it's complete overkill. It is also set artificially lean at idle, cruise, and warm up, which results in stalling and cold/hot start issues. The new M1000RR is factory equipped with 5-wire widebands (just like the 2020+ S1000RR) and is very precise on targeting a specific AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) through a closed loop corrective system from idle to redline. Being factory rich also helps it cool the turtleshell exhaust system. However, fuel can be trimmed for better result as it targets real time fuel corrections (think Dynojet PC5 Autotuner but better). Luckily this is the death of the piggyback fuel controller and custom dyno tuning. We program the M1000RR to target a better AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) to make a little more power along with fixing drivability and idle.
HEAT MANAGEMENT - Let’s face it, this bike rides a little on the hot side. Due to the new exhaust system and idle/cruise AFR mixtures the bike is a recipe to being constantly in the 215+F range and burning your legs while you ride, making it uncomfortable anywhere you’re not going 50+MPH. We have solved this issue by adding our low fan temp modification to this flash as a standard baseline feature along with different cruise mapping which has curbed temps extensively.
BENEFITS
- 10HP gain in top end RPM
- 2-4hp from exhaust valve management
- Cooler riding temps
- Warm up stalling issue resolved
- Improved throttle response in all gears
- Longer and smoother powerband
- Better exhaust note (as bike is silent stock due to exhaust valve)
650IB TESTING
650IB tests our M1000RR flash independently to see what kind of hp gains can be made over stock in the US spec 2021 BMW M1000RR
HOW THESE POWER GAINS ARE POSSIBLE
For those that don't really understand how we get so much power from a simple ECU flash, it's really quite simple. From the factory, the M1000RR is SEVERELY restricted. These restrictions are software based and can be removed with our flash. How bad are the factory restrictions? See the graph below. The numbers represent a maximum % of throttle allowed by the ECU based on the rider commanding 100% throttle twist. You can see some portions are down to 35%! We simply fix this to command a full derestriction so you can get all your power back.
M1000RR WARM UP, BEFORE AND AFTER STAGE 1
The M1000RR seems to suffer the same warm up issues as the 2020+ BMW S1000RR. On the stock tuning you can hear the bike struggling to stay on. It lean pops and sputters until it shuts itself off. Luckily we have a fix for it! Our Stage 1 for the M1000RR not only fixes the warm up and idle issue. You can hear the bike have a steady and healthy idle with no popping or sputtering.
DYNO TESTING
DYNO PROVEN
100% stock M1000RR on the dyno with our Stage 1 flash. This bike has the ability to make 200whp completely stock with just our flash and no other mods. You can also see our attention to detail on the AFR (air/fuel ratio).
STOCK VS FLASHED, SECOND GEAR
This is a pretty drastic contrast. Doesn't even look like the same bike! The throttle restrictions on the US spec M1000RR rob a significant amount of power in almost every gear. We pictured second gear because it has the worst restrictions. You're seeing it right, that's a gain of over 50whp from stock to flashed at almost 13,500 RPM.
