2018-2022 DUCATI V4 (ALL MODELS) STAGE 2
The Ducati V4 engine is probably one of the most capable platforms we have ever tested. Every aspect of this bike is AMAZING. At BT Moto, we take bikes that are already amazing and make them spectacular. The Ducati V4 is no exception. Our work with the Panigale 1299/1199/959/899/848 Handheld Tuner has helped us develop what we consider the best upgrade you can get for your V4. Though all the Ducati models that bare the V4 name may look aesthetically different, the engine itself changes very little. Taking this into consideration we spent months sweeping through every byte of data we could to find and define new tables and advance the platform enough that we could confidently say Stage 2 is a worthy upgrade do your Ducati. We had to re-develop fuel mapping, ignition and toque strategies, all from square one. After thorough testing on and off the dyno, Stage 2 is ready.
**STAGE 2 IS A FEATURE ADD-ON TO STAGE 1. STAGE 1 PURCHACE IS REQUIRED FOR STAGE 2 PURCHASE**
(CLICK HERE TO SEE STAGE 1 DETAILS)
WHAT DOES STAGE 2 INCLUDE?
- Lower gear throttle torque limiters removed
- Deceleration fueling strategy adjusted
- Faster quickshifter
- 1:1 throttle response
- First gear RPM limiter changed
- Refined per-cylinder tuning
- Maximum throttle monitor threshold raised
- Knock control system revised
Anyone that has the Akrapovic or Termi up-maps will say the bike feels a lot more lively than stock and our stage 1 even better than that. Beta testers and our own R&D reveal a noticeable improvement over our Stage 1 flash with our new and revised Stage 2 mapping.
**PLEASE NOTE: All Stage 1 features are applied to Stage 2. Stage 2 is a feature add-on beyond what customers already have with Stage 1. Stage 2 does NOT include a handheld with purchase and will need to be added on at checkout**
HOW DOES THIS HELP YOUR DUCATI?
Lower gear throttle torque limiters removed for full power and RPM without intervention of timing retard. Gears 1-2 in for V4 / V4R and 1-4 in Streetfighter / Multi.
Deceleration fueling strategy adjusted to get rid of twitchy, notorious Ducati feel. The bike feels smoother overall and has the driveability of an inline 4 cylinder.
Faster quickshifter from reduced “kill” times. The lag in shifting is gone and the bike really cracks into gears.
1:1 throttle response gives you a more lively experience riding the bike. Not only is OEM throttle lag reduced but power is also greater in tip-in throttle and light-to-light acceleration. A more precise throttle means better control in turns as well.
First gear RPM limiter raised from the OEM 13,000 RPM.
Refined per-cylinder tuning for better AFR (air/fuel ratio) over the entire RPM band. Optimized for track use to be more aggressive than Stage 1.
Maximum throttle monitor threshold raised from 83% to 100% in all modes. Higher torque threshold means more overall power and a more responsive feel.
Knock control system revised to filter out engine noise or vibration. Only true knock is detected by the sensor.
PANIGALE V4 STAGE 2 REVIEW
STREETFIGHER V4 STAGE 2 REVIEW
Any exhaust on the V4 platform, no matter the model, will have a horrible AFR with an exhaust system. The bike will spike lean and the power suffers largely. The factory mapping also includes other restrictions Stage 2 removes. The extended RPM limiter really helps at the track to reduce shifts and keep your bike in the powerband.

Below is a Ducati V4 Streetfighter to show you how heavy the restrictions are in first gear. We found that the V4 Streetfighter is by far the most restricted of the V4 models. One of the main reasons you get a Streetfighter is to ride in urban areas with significant stop and go. Stage 2 adds power back and removes restrictions to give you a truly invigorating and visceral experience you’ve come to expect from Ducati.

Below is the same V4 Streetfighter as above, except now we tested second gear. The restrictions are huge. After Flashing to Stage 2 it’s a completely transformed bike, as you can imagine by the graph below.

Below is an entirely different streetfighter we tested Stage 2 on with our in-house DynoJet

**All in-house testing performed with 93 octane pump gas. Usage of a lower octane will yield smaller power gains.**
THE BT MOTO HANDHELD TUNER
WHAT IS A HANDHELD TUNER AND WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING ONE?
Thoroughly tested by our own engineers, not just for its function but also durability. We purposefully dropped this thing about 100 times just to make sure if you accidentally dropped it, it would still be a usable device.
So why buy it when you can just send in your ECU for flashing and spend less? Let’s see the breakdown.
NO DOWNTIME – No need to send in your ECU or remove it from your bike at all. You order the handheld, it get’s delivered to you, you flash your bike. You never miss a day of riding and no effort removing the ECU.
STORE MULTIPLE MAPS – When you send in your ECU, you only get one map. You might be thinking, “why would I need more than one map?”. Storing multiple maps means you’re able to flash for different fuels. If you’re a serious track competitor, we can work with you to get you different mapping for different tracks. If, for example, you’re add an exhaust to your stock bike, we can email you a file that takes the new exhaust into account with the changes you need to optimize your bike’s new modifications.
GO BACK TO STOCK ANYTIME – Not only can you store multiple race maps, you can also flash the original, stock file back into the bike at any time and for any reason.
